My Short Story About Learning English

Hi, my name is Ilham.

Everyday I spend time in youtube. Acctually I’m very interesting with football’s video. But when I watched Neymar’s skill in several youtube account, in the right side, I saw a learning english motivation video from AJ. Hoge account. Unfortunately, I have all sad stories about English.

Firstly I wanna share my sad story about learning English in my school. Long time ago when I was sitting in senior high school, English teacher in my school was bad (this is my opinion, I know that it is so subjective but I felt that some of my several friends would agree with me). Every day in school I learn grammar, vocab, reading some story. Sometimes we were listening a speaker who we never know what said it.

All of time we learned English with our eyes. We had to read from teks book, like English dialogues, daily activities. We had to remember some conversation. I saw teacher who wrote in the board. And the most crazy is my teacher explained English with Indonesian. That’s why I can’t speak excellent English until now.

I was very shy when my teacher asked to me in English and I didn’t know how to answer it. All of students in the class laughs. From there, I promise to never learn English again. I lost my confidence. I hate Everything about English. I’m fear all about English.

But! When I found AJ’s video in youtube, I learned English with my ear, not with my eye again. I’m sure serious, it’s the technique which helps me to improve my English. Every day I listen, listen and listen. I don’t know, as if my confidence come in my soul automaticaly. Every word from AJ’s speech by so suprising I can understand. Listening is the only way to improve your English. AJ Hoge said.

Let imagine a American baby. American baby of course never studies English from his/her book. Baby never goes to school. He never reads grammar or converstion too. So, how does American baby learn English ? one way and only is listening!  Listening from his parent. Listening very simple easy like dady, mommy etc. in the next time step by step, listening politics, science and others.

So, let's learning English with yourears not your eyes! Changes the way!
